Full size truck rules 2012-- for Effinham Co. Fair
Any trucks except 4 wheel drive, SUV's, Dually's or flatbeds will be allowed.
Preparartion of Trucks
Trucks must be stripped and sweept clean of all glass pot metal, carpet etc. anything flammable. Both doors must be stripped clean of window regulators and door handles inside and out. Any mouldings, trim, or emblems must be removed. All hitches including bed hitches must be removed.

FRAMES: NO welding on frames. Except for bumper mounting and drive train installation.
No patching on frames. Frames may be sectioned but may only be butt welded  no over lapping or plating. No shortening of frames. Trucks must remain stock wheel base.
CAGES: At least a four point cage. No kickers to frame but may run them to cab floor.
Cage may not exceed drivers compartment. Driver's safety comes first.
BUMPERS: Bumper height on fresh trucks must not exceed 28 inches from ground to center of bumper. Car bumpers may be used on front and back but must be OEM. Front bumpers may be reinforced inside only! Do not abuse this rule!! If car back bumpers are used on the front, the license plate recess may be filled in. If you run a rear bumper it must be trimed within 6 inches of frame rails. Front bumpers may be mounted as such, stock brackets or car shocks, or 2x4x1/4 rectangle tubing, or straight to the frame. One or the other. Shocks or tubing cna only go 8 inches back on or in the front frame. You may chain or strap front bumpers, do not exceed 4 inches back on frame with straps or chain.
ENGINE: Any motor and trans combination to any truck. Mounting may only be done on K-member and trans mount. No engine plates. Transmission coolers may be used, but must be mounted in passengers compartment. ( keep safety in mind)
SUSPENSION: No reinforcing A-arms, tire rods or drag links. Spring risers are allowed. Bolting A-arms solid is permitted, as long as you do not weld or exceed bumper height. Spring clamps may be used on rear, 2 per side.
TIRES: 16.5 or smaller DOT or implement, 8 lug or less, no split rims, no screwed rims, no studded tires  liquid filled tires.okay
BATTERY: battery must be mounted and covered in passenger floor board. one battery per truck.
FUEL TANK: Fuel tank must be mounted in front center of the truck bed. Steel or alluminum only no plastic. Tanks must be secure and leak prof and covered with nonflammable material. (keep safety in mind)
CAB:Cab may be bolted solid to frame. Four places max. This can be done with 3/4 althread and 6x6 plates at 1/4 inch thiskness max. At least one windshield bar  from roof down to cowl. Doors may be welded solid using no more then 1/8 inch and no wider then 3 inches.
RADIATORS: Radiators must remain in stock position or can be removed. No radiator protectors. If metal is added to mount readiator, keep it to minimum.
DRIVESHAFT: Any diveshaft to any truck, but you must have a safety loop ( this can be done with a piece of chain from frame rail to frame rail under driveshaft)
REAREND: Any 8 lug or less rearend maybe used. rearend maybe welded.
FENDERS: 10 bolts per fender. fenders maybe tucked and welded. Do not add metal.
HOOD: Hood panels may be bolted or welded together. Bolts may be no larger then 3/8 diameter with 1 inch diameter washer limit 20. A 12 inch hole must be cut in hood above carborator if header holes are not cut. Header holes must be cut plenty big for fire extinguishers to fit. Hoods may be bolted shut in 6 places. This can be done with 3/4 althread or smaller 6x6x1/4 inch paltes. Only 2 can go through frame. In addition you can use #9 wire from hood to bumper  (6 strands Max) Hoods must open for inspection.
BED: Bed bolts may be replaced with 3/4 allthread and 6x6x1/4 plates. No more then 8 places and these may go through frame. You may have 2 additional bolts go from the front of the bed through the back of the cab. Bed may be welded to cab using 1/8x3 flat may be welded solid. Tail gate may be welded solid if left up.
If bed sides are folded down, tailgate must remain behind wheel wells. Sides and tail gate may be bolted down with 2 additional 3/4 allthread(one per side) but may only go through bed floor. You may use #9 wire in the bed but only in 4 places. You may go to bed bolts but not to frame. Bed panels may be welded together using 11/2x11/2x1/8 inch angle iron . Angle may be only 4 inches long and at least 6 inches apart. You may use a total of 16 angles inside of bed. INSIDE only not on the bed rails.

TRUCK DEMO RULES AND REGULATIONS

GENERAL RULES:
1. This is an alcohol-free event. No alcohol allowed in the pit area.
2. The driver must be at least the age of 18. Ages 16-17 must have a permission slip signed by a parent.
3. The person that signs in as the driver must be the driver for that event. Driver and truck qualify – no switching trucks.
4. No hot-rodding in the pit area. Keep it at an idle.
5. All judges’ decisions are final. Any arguments will lead to disqualification, removal and forfeit placing and money.
6. If a truck does not pass inspection or driver is unwilling to change truck to pass inspection, there will be absolutely NO REFUNDS.
7. All ½ ton and ¾ ton trucks, Suburbans, Broncos, Blazers, Ram Chargers will be allowed. No 4-wheel drives, duallies, one-tons, panel-trucks, utility bed, flat beds or vans allowed. No front straight axles. No El Caminos or Rancheros.
8. The driver must have and use a safety belt, crash helmet and eye protection.
9. Paint numbers brightly on each front door for judging and recognition of the truck. An 18x18” roof sign must also be mounted.
10. You may place slogans and/or advertising anywhere on the truck except for the doors. NO OBSCENITIES anywhere on the truck.
11. No sand bagging, holding or team driving. You will be disqualified. If you want to win it, earn it.
12. You are given one minute for aggressive hits (must show damage), one minute for restarts, and one minute if you are hung up. Then you will be disqualified. This does not mean three minutes total.
13. Driver is responsible for pit crew conduct. Any form of unsportsman-like conduct (i.e. throwing mud clods, yelling at officials or other drivers) could result in disqualification and removal from premises.


TRUCK PREPARATION AND BUILDING:
1. Remove all side chrome stripping, emblems, pot metal, plastic, small grill pieces and anything that might break and fall off. This will be strictly enforced.
2. Remove all glass from the truck cleanly – do not knock it out. This includes headlights and taillights. Cut wires to all lights.
3. Pre-rans are allowed but must follow rules. No welding to repair.
4. All trucks must be stock unless modification is stated in the rules. Original equipment manufacturing (Chevy truck = Chevy bed, etc.)
5. If vehicle has a removable top (i.e. Blazer), the top must be removed.
6. All trailer hitches and braces must be removed.
7. In order to put out fires, all trucks must have a 14” diameter hole in the hood.
8. Use motor and tranny of choice - must be in stock location. You may chain or weld motor or tranny to keep in place without strengthening the frame.
9. Use rear end of choice - you can tilt rear end if you wish. Welded or posi-track is highly recommended.
10. You may use radiator but it must be in stock location or removed. It must be a car or pickup radiator (no homemade radiators).
11. Original gas tank must be removed. Must use a steel boat tank or well-made steel fuel cell. No plastic tanks will be allowed. No gas cans. Place fuel cell in front center of the bed against the cab. It must be properly secured and covered.
12. No distributor protectors. No carburetor protectors.
13. Fuel line must be secured and fastened properly. Keep away from exhaust.
14. Transmission coolers will be allowed but must be safe and properly secured and covered.
15. Batteries (maximum of two 12-volt automotive) must be moved to passenger floorboard close to transmission hump. It must be properly secured and covered.
16. All trucks must have working brakes - this will be checked during tech.
17. All doors may be welded - maximum 5” and skip 5” from the bottom of window down using 3” by 3/16” steel. If not welded, they may be chained shut using up to 3/8” chain or #9 wire. Chain or wire may go around the frame. If using wire, you may spot-weld a washer no bigger than 1” to the body for the wire to pass through. Two chains or wires per seam.
18. Driver’s door may be welded solid, metal not to exceed 3” by 3/16” thick.
19. Driver’s door bar may not exceed 12” past front and rear of driver’s door. Maximum of 12” by 4” steel. No grader blades.
20. Tailgate must be welded 5” skip 5” from top down, or you may use two chains, 3/8” or #9 wire, two per seam. Vertical seams welded on the outside only. The bottom of the tailgate may be welded on the inside using up to 2” by 2” by 3/16” angle iron. If desired, tailgate can be dropped down and welded to bumper with the same type of material.
21. Hoods may be fastened with six allthread up to ¾” diameter, or six 3/8” single-loop chains, or #9 wire. All hood fasteners must be sheetmetal to sheetmetal only except two allthread may go through core support mounts to frame. You may use plates or washer for allthread - but they are not to exceed 4” by 4” by ¼” thick steel. If using wire, you may spot-weld washers no bigger then 1” to the body for the wire to pass through.
22. Only pickup truck bumpers may be used (no El Camino or Ranchero bumpers). No car bumpers. No rear bumpers on front of the truck. Bumpers and brackets may be welded to frame. No other welding on the bumper or skins will be allowed, except as noted in rule #20.
23. A-arms, ball joints, and tie-rods must remain stock.
24. Spring clamps are allowed on leaf springs, two in front of rear end and two behind with 2” by 4” by ¼” thick plate with 3/8” bolts.
25. DOT approved tires only and a rim no bigger than 16.5”- no split rims. Maximum tire size is 33”.
26. Re-bolt or chain the bed and cab in six places (3/4” bolt maximum or 3/8” chain). This is highly recommended. Plate size is limited to 6” by 6” by ¼” thick. Frames may not be shortened.
27. Must run a strap or two 3/8” chains from roof to dash for safety in the windshield cavity.
28. Must weld a maximum of 3” by 3/16” strap vertically attaching bed to cab on both sides.
29. A four bar cage is required and must be installed consisting of a dash bar, seat bar (doorpost to doorpost to keep bed from coming through cab for safety reasons) and two sidebars. Maximum of 4” diameter pipe or 4” square tubing for dash and seat bar and up to 6” pipe or 6” c-channel for side bars. Pipe should be welded a minimum of 12” up from floor, but below shoulders.
